The Jacksonville Jewish Center cemeteries are sacred spaces entrusted to our congregation for remembrance, burial, visitation, and the preservation of communal history. The Cemetery Committee works to maintain these grounds with dignity, clarity, and respect for the families, founders, and generations represented there.
The Jacksonville Jewish Center owns and operates two cemeteries within the Evergreen Cemetery complex, alongside serving as the religious custodian for the Beth Shalom Cemetery. Cemeteries are closed on Shabbat and Jewish holidays.
This is the larger and more active Center cemetery area, located off East 43rd Street, and serves current and future burial needs for the congregation. Head north on Main Street to 43rd Street.Turn right on 43rd, then right again on Liberty Street to reach the entrance.
Located within Evergreen Cemetery at Section 5, This is the original Center Cemetery and includes the graves of many founding families of the congregation. Travel north on Main Street to Winona Street. Turn right and follow the road to Gate 5. The Old Cemetery is on the left.
The Center serves as the religious custodian for Beth Shalom Cemetery, also located within Evergreen Cemetery. Enter through Gate 5 and take the red brick road to the right. Bear left onto Cummer Drive and follow it to the end (approximately 0.4 miles). The Beth Shalom section will be on your right.
Updates are being made to protect gravesites, improve visitor navigation, and preserve the dignity of the cemetery. As the New Center Cemetery has grown over many decades, areas that once allowed easier access now require clearer boundaries and parking guidance. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue to care for these sacred grounds.
